Migrating from Platform v2 to v3

Understands how Platform v2 and v3 differ and how data is migrated between them.

Overview

MrScraper has evolved from Platform v2 to Platform v3, representing a significant system upgrade with improved features and architecture. This guide explains the key differences between these platforms and what you need to know about the migration process.

Account Authentication

Your credentials are migrated automatically. If you login using v2 platform credentials:

  1. You can click the Forgot password? link on the login page to initiate a password reset.
  2. Enter your registered email address, and you'll receive instructions to create a new password.

Note

MrScraper also supports Google authentication. If you initially signed up using Google, ensure you're using the "Sign in with Google" option on the login page.

Understanding Platform v2 vs v3

Platform v2 and Platform v3 are separate systems, meaning they operate independently with their own databases, infrastructure, and data storage. This architectural difference has important implications for how your data is managed and migrated.

This means:

  • Different Data Storage: Your scrapers, subscriptions, and account data in v2 are stored separately from v3
  • Manual Migration Process: Data migration from v2 to v3 is performed manually by our team
  • No Automatic Sync: Changes made in one platform do not automatically reflect in the other

Data Scope and Migration Rules

CategoryDetails

Not Migrated DataScrapers created in v2 do not appear in v3 automatically

Migration Process

Before Migration

  • All data exists only in Platform v2
  • Platform v2 remains fully usable

During Migration

  • Data is transferred manually by the team
  • Temporary access to both platforms may be available

After Migration

  • Migrated data is available in Platform v3
  • Platform v3 should be used for new scrapers
  • Platform v2 may remain available for reference only

Account Access

Login credentials are migrated automatically. To use your v2 account credential in v3, you need to reset your account password by clicking the "Forgot password?" link on the login page to initiate a password reset.

Note

MrScraper also supports Google authentication. If you initially signed up using Google, ensure you're using the "Sign in with Google" option on the login page.

Platform v2

You can still access Platform v2 if you need to review or reuse existing work from the v2 system. This is useful when you want to compare setups or copy information before fully moving to Platform v3.

How to access Platform v2

You can access Platform v2 in either of the following ways:

  • Direct access: v2-app.mrscraper.com

  • From Platform v3: In Platform v3, open a scraper that shares the same configuration as a v2 scraper and click Go to v2 Scraper next to the scraper name.

    • If you already have an active v2 login session, you will be taken directly to the scraper details page.
    • If you are not logged in, you will be redirected to the Platform v2 login page first.

Note

New features and enhancements are released only on Platform v3. Platform v2 is scheduled for deprecation.
